As a Photojournalist, Vincent is honored to contribute regularly as a correspondent to Indian Country Today, the leading Native American news publication in the United States. He has also contributed to local and national publications such as Native Times, Inside Business (a Hampton Roads business magazine) Tribal College Journal, Arthritis Today, Children’s Digest, The Virginian-Pilot and Tidewater Parent.

 

As an author, Vincent Schilling was asked in 2007 by Book Publishing Company and Second Story Press to initiate the start of a growing book series entitled the “Native Trailblazer Series.” He was thrilled.

 

Vincent’s first book, “Native Athletes in Action” won distinction with a 2007 Moonbeam Children’s Bronze Medal in multicultural non-fiction. “Athletes” also received acclaim as book of the month from “Native America Calling” A nationally syndicated Native American radio show.   He released his second book, “Native Men of Courage,” in the summer of 2008. His most current book for children, entitled “Native Musicians – In the Groove” is the third book by Vincent. Within a few months of the release of the book, Native Musicians was awarded “Finalist in Multicultural Non-Fiction” for the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

In 2010, for his Native Trailblazers blog talk radio show, Vincent was also presented with The Silver Arrow Award for accomplishments and outstanding contributions to Native American Music. The award was presented to both the Native Trailblazers Radio Show and to Vincent Schilling by the board of directors (to include the esteemed CEO Donald Blackfox) of Spirit Wind Records.

 

As an author and photojournalist, Vincent Schilling has had the distinct pleasure of meeting with countless of amazing people in his life’s adventures to include Wayne Newton, Retired Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell, John McCain, award-winning artists Mary Youngblood, Crystal Shawanda, Gabriela Ayala and Michael Bucher to name just a few.

 

As a professional photographer, Vincent has had the pleasure of photographing such amazing people such as Wayne Newton, The Golden Eagles Hotshots Firefighters, Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, John McCain and many others. He has also donated his time as a photographer for numerous non-profit organizations such as the Arthritis Foundation, Homes For Kids, the SPCA and others. Vincent now lives in Virginia Beach with his beautiful wife Delores. Together, they have traveled all over the country and Vincent has been fortunate to share his experiences with Native youth as far away from his hometown of Virginia as Ronan, Montana. Vincent loves his life and his career, because he gets to share with others his wonderful life’s adventure.
